Where to Next: Ama Dablam Base Camp Fall 2024

We are currently training and preparing for Ama Dablam Base Camp for October 2024. Here's a basic Google Maps route of this trek. It follows the classic EBC trek (in blue) up to Pangboche then turns to the east (in red) to ADBC.
News: As of spring 2023 Nepal requires trekkers to hire a local guide or porter. The word from other trekkers is this has been enforced sporadically.
We will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla then start trekking....
This will be our first time flying into Lukla or completing any part of the Everest Base Camp Trek. Our goal is Ama Dablam Base Camp, but we may go further to Imja Tse (aka. Island Peak) Base Camp or even Everest Base Camp. It all depends on AMS. I have this delusional goal of climbing Imja Tse, which its base camp is a couple days additional trek to the other side of Ama Dablam. I say delusional not because I have any doubts I could physically do it, I just can't take the cold. We're from Miami and currently live in the middle east, so you can probably understand why. A trek across the Sahara desert or Borneo is more up my alley.
I have been told by numerous folks that there are no hot showers at the tea houses above Namche Bazaar, but according to the information on google maps and Tripadvisor there are. It could be that I was reading old information, or there's a bit of false advertisement. In the past technically there have been hot showers on our treks, but they were solar so a lot of days it wasn't really an option. I guess we'll find out either way.
